The Song Is Not What It Seems… (Flashback)

This one takes me all the back to my final year of Uni, 2003. It was, in essence a large conceptual piece created for the end of year exhibition. The final print ended up being slightly over 2 metres long and more than a metre tall.

The main themes behind the piece were from a series of recurring dreams I had while living and working on Hayman Island. It also features some obvious inspiration for other sources, most notably Storm Thorgerson (renowned artist/photographer, best know for his work with Pink Floyd). The images of the girls floating above the water was mixed together with some entry level 3D rendering and aspects of graphic design, both of which I was trying to get my head around at the time.

I named the piece after the opening lyric to a song called ‘White Love’ by a band called ‘One Dove’. I had no real reason for this other than that the song always seemed to creep into the same dreams.

Photoshop (6.0) was the main software used, however in order to create every apsect of this piece I also used the following software: Adobe Illustrator, Bryce 3D, Strata 3D and ArtMatic. The Song Is Not What It Seems...The Song Is Not What It Seems...The Song Is Not What It Seems...
