The fantastic Loxely on Bellbird Hill was the ideal setting for Sunshine and Justin’s dream Wedding.
With amazing views over the surrounding area and fantastic grounds, I knew there would be some excellent photo opportunities (and I wasn’t disappointed).
The Ceremony was held on the outer decking with some incredible views. Afterwards, Sunshine, Justin and myself made good use of local ‘props’ including the huge tree and the vintage telephone box.
Each year the Vivid Festival of Light takes place in Sydney. There are many interactive installations and art works scattered around the Harbour’s edge, the main draw card though being the projected images upon the iconic Opera House and Customs House.
Many brave (or foolish) Photographers braved the cold and the rain to capture the lights. I’d left it to the last minute, so I had no choice.
Back down to the ‘Gong for another great day and a great couple.
I started with Micheal and the boys. They were alot of fun and open to pretty much all of my requests. They had opted for grey suits, not a common choice but they looked great.
As I got to the girls, Jess was in the final stages of hair and make up. She was looking amazing in her crumbled floral dress and the girls stunning in their short dresses.
The Ceremony took place at the Uniting Church in Wollongong. Despite having on of the darkest interiors, it is a fantastic looking Church and really sets the mood.
All aboard the stretched Hummer and we made our way out to the first Photo location, a lovely rustic private property. Jess and Micheal had stressed that they did not want any photos on the beach or anywhere near the famous Wollongong Lighthouses. The next location was a Pub/Hotel in the centre of town, that amongst other things had a really awesome red wall.
The Lounge was the venue for the Reception where everyone grooved the night away……..
Once again, ominous clouds and threatening of rain looked like it might foil our plans for a fantastic Wedding.
Whilst it did get pretty cold and windy, the rain kept away and Nicholas and Tina had their perfect day.
We started shooting at the foot of the Opera House. The first challenge of the day was to get a 10mm wide shot without any tourists in frame. Tricky, to say the least but with time and a bit of yelling, our goal was achieved. Shooting the Opera House and making it look barren is always a challenge, but I hate bystanders and randoms in my shots.
The ceremony was held in the lovely Rose Garden Pavilion.
Megan and Murtaza (Mort) were already married at this point, having done so in Mort’s homeland of India. However, a local ‘do’ was in order and I was called upon to shoot the day.
The Wedding was held in Newcastle, NSW, where Megan had grown up. Many of the attendees traveled far to be there, coming from overseas and interstate.
The lovely Church Wedding was preceded by some (difficult at times) group shots, at which point we headed off for some location shots.
This is where things got tricky. In no time at all the clouds had rolled over and the rain fell hard. Megan and Mort (M&M) braved the elements, but it just got too wet and windy and sadly many of our destinations were left unusable.
The Reception was at a local Surf Club which had been laid out beautifully. The rain continued pretty much all night, but a small break allowed us to quickly get outside and get some shots at the shark tower. An awesome rainbow even appeared, as if to say sorry.
Festivities continued into the night, despite the weather…………
The sun was shining and the stage was set for an awesome day for the Wedding of Amber and Rydr. They had opted to have a Friday Wedding, as more couples are choosing to do. I started with the boys, making sure I let them go in plenty of time to get a round of golf in. I then spent a few hours with the girls. Amber looked stunning in her dress and the bridesmaids looked a treat in their pastel yellow dresses.
We arrived at the Church to find the place packed out with school kids, I mean everywhere. My first thought was that being a Friday, these kids had nothing better to do. Then it occurred to me, both Amber and Rydr are school teachers and these were their students. It was really quite cute.
The Ceremony was lovely and was followed by a trip to a local park for some photos down by the water. Not wanting to get stuck in peak time traffic, we headed off to the Reception venue. Thankfully the roads were fairly clear and we got to Panorama House at Bulli in good time. The wind had started to pick up so we made use of the time by getting some shots at the edge of the cliff overlooking Wollongong.
The reception was fun filled, the highlight for me being the cutting of the cake. Amber’s family have a long tradition of smashing the cake, so once the formalities of cutting it had been fulfilled, the entire Bridal party and a line of family each took turns to smash the cake with the knife. The end result was a severely broken cake which no one dared eat.
