New Years Eve Fireworks – Sydney 2012

•January 1, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Once again we’ve come to the end of another year and for most Sydney-siders that means one thing: FIREWORKS (it also means booze, but that’s not nearly as pretty or awesome).

Sydney Harbour has a reputation of having some of the best fireworks and pyrotechnics on display anywhere in the world. By incorporating well known icons such as the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, each year brings an unforgettable mix of noise and colour to the city.

2011/12 was no exception. With my commanding view of the Harbour, sturdy Manfrotto and both my cable release and infra-red remote (just in-case), I was ready.

Most of the shots are ISO 100, f9 for 6 seconds. I used 18-70mm and 10-20mm. Tried to shoot a 5 exposure HDR image halfway through the show. Won’t try that again.

However, the ‘almost’ 180 degree panorama of the City skyline came up very well indeed, click it to see a bigger version.

Wild Life Sydney – Darling Harbour

•December 30, 2011 • Leave a Comment

In my effort to see all that Sydney has to offer, it was high-time that I ticked Wild Life Sydney in Darling Harbour off my list.

Wild Life features an extensive collection of Australian animals, birds and reptiles. Many of them endangered.

Popular critters include the always cute Koalas, reclusive Cassowary and a huge Saltwater Crocodile (sorry, no shots of him, he wasn’t feeling photogenic today)

All shots were taken with either my 70-200 or the 55mm macro.

Mi-Sex – Live At The Basement, Sydney

After a musical hiatus of 20 years, I was thrilled to discover that Mi-Sex were back on the road and playing the legendary Basement in Sydney.

New recruit Steve Balbi (of Noiseworks and Electric Hippies fame) did a fantastic job on vocals and it became apparent that the band were still as tight as ever. It didn’t take long before the room was hot, sweaty and heaving.

Mi-Sex belted out all their hits including Falling In and Out, People, Space Race, Blue Day and of course Computer Games.

The Wedding of Libby & Chris, Kiama

Kiama was on the agenda today, the Wedding of Libby & Chris. Once again the sun was out and it was bright and sunny all day.

I met both the guys and girls at the Surf Beach Holiday Park for the ‘getting ready’ shots before moving on to a fantastic outdoor Ceremony in the Bonaira Native Gardens.

The Photo Shoot saw us visit the local beach, small Blow-hole and a quick trip to the mountains.

The Reception took place at the great Kiama Pavilion.

The Wedding of Megan & Ben, Doltone House: Sydney

The Wedding of Megan and Ben was another day filled with great fun and crazy antics. At times it seemed that that the boys and girls were having an unofficial contest to see who could act the craziest. it all made for great shots and plenty of fun.

The Ceremony and Reception was at the nicely appointed Doltone House in Sydney and the photo session took place just down the road at Pyrmont Point Park.

The Wedding of Amy & Leigh, Hunter Valley

•October 22, 2011 • Leave a Comment

At last!!!!!! I got to shoot a Wedding in the Hunter Valley. I had been looking forward to Amy & Leigh’s Wedding all year and hoped that the weather behaved itself.

Thankfully the weather was splendid and we were set for an awesome day.

I caught up with Amy and her girls at the Crowne Plaza in time for hair and make up. A few villas down the road I met the boys and got shots of them getting suited up (as well as the tail-end of a footy match). Then back to the girls as they were getting their dresses on and some family shots.

The afternoon Ceremony was at the quaint Lovedale Wedding Chapel. We spent some time shooting on the grounds of the Chapel before heading to Peterson House and making good use of their vineyards. The sun was on it’s way down, so we headed indoors and continued the festivities into the night.

Atila & Hale, Engagement Portrait Session – Nurrangingy Reserve, Doonside

•October 14, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Overcast with a chance of rain, that’s what awaited Atila, Hale and myself out at Nurrangingy Reserve in Doonside.

Atila was looking very ‘John Steed’ with his suit and umbrella, whilst Hale was looking hot in her bright red dress.

Thankfully the rain held off long enough and we got plenty of great shots around the reserve.

The Wedding of Melissa & Dane: Settlers Reception, Mulgoa

Today was another fun Wedding. Dane is a military boy, so it was nice to get shots of him not only in his suit but also his Army attire.

The Ceremony and Reception were held at the wonderful historic grounds of Settlers Reception in Mulgoa.

Between Ceremony and Reception we ducked down to the Nepean River for the Photo Shoot.

Whilst at the IMATS (International Make Up Artist Trade Show) I was asked to take some portraits of a very lovely young lady. How could I refuse?

All these shots were taken at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre using available light and minimal retouching.

Model: Erin Victoria Holland

Make Up & Styling: Margarett De Guzman (www.margarettdeguzman.com.au)

The Wedding of Sunshine & Justin: Loxley on Bellbird Hill, Blue Mountains

•August 14, 2011 • Leave a Comment

The fantastic Loxely on Bellbird Hill was the ideal setting for Sunshine and Justin’s dream Wedding.

With amazing views over the surrounding area and fantastic grounds, I knew there would be some excellent photo opportunities (and I wasn’t disappointed).

The Ceremony was held on the outer decking with some incredible views. Afterwards, Sunshine, Justin and myself made good use of local ‘props’ including the huge tree and the vintage telephone box.
